I love small little projects that can be completed quickly and without fuss. These wristwarmers hardly take any time at all to finish.
- Good quality double-knit yarn
- 4.00mm hook
- Two buttons
- The pattern is written in UK terminology.
- The stitch pattern is worked over 6 sts. To increase or decrease the size of the wristwarmers, simply add or subtract 6 chs from the initial chain.
- ch/s – chain/s
- chsp – chain space
- sk – skip
- st/s – stitch/es
- htr – half treble
- prev – previous
- rep – repeat
- tr – treble
Row 1: (wrong side) Work 1htr in the 2nd ch from hook, work 1htr in each ch to the end, turn. (31sts)
Row 2: Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch, here and throughout), work 1htr in each st across, turn.
Row 3: (left wristwarmer) Ch1, work 1htr in each st to the last 5 sts, ch2, sk next 2 sts, work 1htr in each of the last 3 sts, turn. (buttonhole made)
Row 3: (right wristwarmer) Ch1, 1htr in the first 3 sts, ch2, sk next 2 sts, 1htr in each st to the end, turn. (buttonhole made)
Row 4: Ch1, work 1htr in each st across, and 2htr in the 2chsp made in the prev row, turn. (31sts)
Row 5: Ch1, 1htr in each st across, turn.
Row 6: Ch1, 1dc in first st, *sk next 2 sts, 5tr in next st (shell created), sk next 2 sts, 1dc in next st*, rep from * to end, turn.
Row 7: Ch3 (count as tr here, and throughout), 2tr at the base of the ch3, *sk next 2 sts, 1dc in third tr of shell, sk next 2 tr, 5tr in next dc*, rep from * to last shell, 1dc in third tr of last shell, 3tr in last st, turn.
Row 8: Ch1, 1dc in first st, *sk next 2 tr, 5tr in next dc, sk next 2 tr, 1dc in third tr of next shell*, rep from * to last shell, 5tr in next dc, 1dc in last st, turn.
Rep row 7 & 8 four more times. (16 rows). If a longer or shorter wristwarmer is required, simply adjust the number of rows.
With right sides facing, fold the wristwarmer in half, sew the first few rows together. (Depending on size, about 4 – 5 rows should suffice)
Sew the buttons in place on each of the wristwarmers and weave in all loose ends.
